Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Committee

 

The Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions is held every August during the fair in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall.  This special auction will feature the Grand Champion and reserve Grand Champion steers, barrows, lambs, meat goats, pens of chickens and pens of rabbits from 4-H and FFA livestock shows.

The sale recognizes the accomplishments of 12 young agriculturists with their livestock projects and up to 25 high school seniors will receive a $1,000 scholarship and one $2,500 scholarship will be awarded by the MSF Youth in Agriculture Committee.

Tyler McVay of Kirksville won the 4-H/FFA Grand Champion Meat Goat award at the 2007 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia on August 14. Tyler is the son Jeff and Denise McVey and T. J. and Matt Becker and attends Ionia Community College. In the Sale of Champions he sold his Grand Champion Meat Goat to Brair Wood Angus, represented by Dr. Curtis Long of Butler for $9,400. Adam Thompson, 12, of Maryville won the 4-H/FFA Reserve Champion Meat Goat award at the 2007 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia on August 14. Adam is the son of Tim Thompson, Mary Thompson and Shawn Varner and attends Maryville Middle School.In the Sale of Champions he sold his Reserve Grand Champion Meat Goat to Edward Jones and the Missouri Meat Goat Producers for $6,100 at the 2007 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia on August 18.
